Janis Searles Jones, the leader and CEO of the Ocean Conservancy, will talk about the way this international NGO navigates the path between science and policy for the oceans. Ocean Conservancy has spearheaded international citizen mobilizations like International Coastal Cleanup, helped negotiate restoration work after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, has been active in protecting Arctic coasts and communities, and was a major player in the marine protected area process in California. Janis will talk about the future of ocean conservation: Our Ocean: Threats, Solutions and Opportunities to Tackle the Climate Crisis and how collaborative organizations like hers are moving towards solutions.
